Adventures In The Bizarre

Bizarro hasn't been on the tail of end of such a nasty beating in a long time.

Then again, the supervillain never really saw it coming. For reasons known only to Bizarro himself, he decided to raid a local McDonalds, making off with not just a giant satchel of breakfast burritos but also a life-size statue of Grimace. He got ten feet into the air when a plasma blast knocked him to the ground, the Grimace statue shattering and his precious breakfast burritos quickly dragged away by an enterprising hobo. At that point, Bizarro had other problems to worry about.

"Me love you, horny gold guy!" Bizarro roars, charging down at Magog again. In response, Magog only plants himself firmly and waits for Bizarro to reach melee distance. After enough blasts, the big brute learned to dodge them, at least when he has time to.

By now, Magog's figured out something's up. He thought it was Superman when he blasted him from behind, but now he's not so sure. Superman was much stronger than this guy, and suffered no speech impediments. The chalk-white skin is also a giveaway. But whoever he is, he's dressed in Superman's livery, and victimizing people the way Superman did. Reid won't hesitate to put him down.

"Feeling's not mutual..." Magog growls, catching Bizarro right in his chalk-white jaw and bodily hurling him to the ground. Bizarro's eyes flash as he uses his ice vision, but Magog simply twists his head to the side, grabbing Bizarro's face and slamming it into the dirt roughly. Straddling the villain, he slams his face again and again. Bizarro struggles to rise from under him but can't throw off Magog's considerable weight. He has Bizarro pinned.

The Watchtower?

That earns her an incredulous stare. He should have known the Watchtower was still around, of course, but it'd been destroyed for so long where he'd been, he'd forgotten all about it.

Killer Frost was a murdering monster who took pleasure in using her powers to kill. Everything from this woman so far has been the exact opposite.

"I've got this... LOOK OUT!" Magog shouts, too late. Bizarro's fast, faster than him and faster than Ice. He closes in on Ice, aiming a chalk-white fist at her face.

He hits, and she goes flying, stopping abruptly upon hitting a nearby tree.

Breath whooshes out of her, puffing out as a gasp of white and snowy air.

This was a little more than she expected. And if the other man joins forces with Bizarro... Tora struggles to her feet, cradling one hand against her cheek, and takes back to the air.

She deftly swoops out of the way of another swing, and replies with a barrage of ice, piling up and around his feet to hold him still for hopefully long enough.

Light of Justice

Bizarro's braying laughter is abruptly cut short when Ice dodges his second swing, and turns into an angered shout when she immobilizes him with an icy barrage.

"This will hold Bizarro FOREVER!" the villain shouts defiantly, inhaling for another gout of fiery breath.

And then the breath is abruptly exhaled in a cry of pain, as a plasma blast cuts into his chest. He is knocked free of the icy restraints, flying into and through a monument. Magog follows him, exhibiting surprising speed for a man so big, and continues the assault. Bizarro's down again, crumpled at the foot of a walkway, and from the top step Magog points his lance at him, heedless of the brute's pained yelling as he renews his own barrage on Bizarro.

"How does it feel?" he shouts down at Bizarro, not knowing or caring what his answer will be. "How do you like it?!"

"What the..." Tora flies up behind him and attempts to pull the lance up, tugging on his arm.

"Are you trying to kill him??" Her voice is incredulous and full of surprise.

Reflection

He's so surprised, he actually lets her pull the lance up.

"Yeah, what else would I be trying to do to him?" He says it so calmly, so easily, that there's no question as to whether or not he's even thought about whether it's right or wrong. Bizarro's a bad guy. And where he's from, you kill bad guys, before they kill you. To Magog it's just that simple.

Smoke rises from Bizarro's scorched body, but he doesn't get up. He's either unconscious or doing a really good job at faking it.

"He almost took your head off." He looks at her quizzically. "Is he someone important to you or something?"

His tone, the utter surprise at being asked a question that to Tora should be easily answered, gives her pause, and she just looks at him, keeping one hand on the lance.

"He's... what we do is take him in and put him in a cell. We don't kill."

Over her shoulder he can see faces pressed against the windows of the McDonald's, children and adults gaping at the spectacle.

"Not like this, never like this."

Kiefer David - Omen

He follows her gaze, sees the kids gaping at them, not even half a block away. Kids staring transfixed in horror as he stands over a man who looks just like Superman, poised to murder him. It touches him somewhere he hasn't felt for a long time.

And yet...

He lifts his hands and pulls the helmet from his head, revealing his face fully to Tora for the first time. He's young, younger than his build would suggest. But his eyes seem older than the rest of him.

"You don't understand." There's an urgency in his voice that almost borderlines desperation. "That's why they win. Why they destroy the Watchtower. The Justice League. Everything you stand for."

Behind him, Bizarro stirs.

Her confusion only grows at this statement, adding to an already surreal afternoon. Almost without thinking her hand cups his cheek, her thumb stroking his skin lightly, almost as if she wishes to smooth away the hurt.

"But you're wrong." Tora's voice is quiet, everything in her focusing on him with those blue eyes searching his face. "The League... I'm part of the League. They represent everything that I stand for."

Kiefer David - Pain

He flinches at her touch, clearly not used to the contact. If there were any lingering doubts about her identity before, they're gone now.

"I..."

And then... he feels it. A warmth, like the sudden rush one gets from hot chocolate on a cold day, spreading from his cheek where she touched him, down to his arms. Dazed, he wonders a moment if the sensation is a conscious act on her part... but she's stumbled back, and she looks confused as well. Did she feel it too?

The feeling... he's felt it somewhere before, and it takes him a moment to place it. The day he lost his arm... no, the day he got his arm. His new one. The power he felt then, barely conscious... it's the same power he's feeling now.

Unfortunately for Magog, he's forgotten about Bizarro, and the bloodied villain takes full advantage of that. He barely has time to form an expression of surprise as he's suddenly encased in ice, catching a full blast of Bizarro's ice vision right in the back.

Behind the now-frozen Magog, Bizarro floats into the air, wiping black blood from his lip and grinning a yellow-toothed grin.

"Bizarro am never number one!" he shouts triumphantly, clenching his fists as he prepared to dive down and finish the immobilized Magog off.

Blue eyes suddenly flash to silver, and Tora flings out her hand, releasing a thick spike of ice that hits Bizarro square in the stomach, driving him backwards and into the side of a minivan. Steel crumples and the windows shatter into showers of sparkling glass.

She turns to face Magog, and with a muttered word and a flick of fingers the ice flows away from him and slides along the ground back to Bizarro, encasing him in the same manner.

What I Have Wrought

It took a second, maybe two at the most. Alertness returns to Magog's eyes as the ice recedes, and he whirls, ready to return Bizarro's attack in kind...

Only to see that the chalk-white villain is on ice, literally. He looks back at Tora, who looks none too good - pale (well, paler), and winded. He starts to ask if she's all right, when he hears the all-too-familiar sound of ice shattering. Magog whirls, pulling his lance up again. He's just about had it with this guy.

But then, to his total astonishment, Bizarro turns tail and runs. He doesn't even look back or offer a parting shot - just turns tail and flies away, his cape between his legs.

"Damn." he mutters. The false Superman was a tough foe, and his escape only means that he'll have to face him again one day.

He turns back to Tora. "Are you okay?"

She can only look at him, blinking those shining silver eyes slowly, swaying on her feet.

"Bróðir?" There is a strange tonal resonance behind the word.

"I..." What little color left in her skin drains away and with a sigh she falls, eyes closed like she has fallen asleep.

A Step Too Late

The woman gets out one word, then crumples, and Magog quickly catches her. She's so light in his arms...

He's interrupted by his reverie by the sound of cheering, and turns, utterly shocked to see a small crowd has gathered, clapping and showering the pair with words of encouragement. He's utterly on the spot, and the deer-in-the-headlights look is priceless.

Rather than face the crowd, he takes off further into the park, quickly losing the few fans who decide to try to catch up to him.

The last thing he or his unexpected companion needs right now is an entourage.
